Two rows, two columns, one elegant elimination.
An X-Wing appears when a candidate number shows up in exactly two cells in one row, and exactly two cells in another row, and both pairs sit in the same two columns.
Because that candidate must land in one of those two columns for each row, you can safely eliminate it from every other cell in those two columns for the rest of the grid.
It is called an X-Wing because connecting the four candidate cells with lines forms an X shape across the board. The live puzzle below is seeded to an advanced difficulty so the pattern has room to appear.
